Christmas approaches...
Do you have little parties during this occasion (like family reunions) or do you just have a dinner amongst the family (as in Mrs. Malfoy and Draco) with a little touch of grandeur in it?
I usually have the relatives over and spend time with them. And maybe getting drunk. *hangs head in shame* I've taken to getting drunk over the Holidays. Not really something I should be proud of.

Usually we play host to what I will immodestly call the gala event of the season for our inner circle of friends, if you catch my meaning. Narcissa does up the house in wondrous and spectral tones that combine a healthy mixture of glad tidings and just a hint of danger. The perfect amalgamation for any holiday, but it does give an extra boost to an otherwise dull celebration. Not to mention that it keeps young Draco on his toes when he goes hunting (and he will go hunting, I assure you) for his bounty.
Depending on the way the dates settle we either host it the week before or two weeks before Christmas day itself, leaving lesser clans to plan their festivities around ours. This is the way it is and the way it shall stay. Of course, the actual day of we spend as just the three of us content to watch Draco rip into all of the joys that we have gathered for him over the year and mock the lesser gifts from other relatives and so-called friends.
After he has exhausted himself with his new toys, we start our Christmas Dinner that is, in general, comprised of no less than 12 courses. That fills up a good portion of the rest of the day between eating and catching up on what Draco has been doing all year in school. The final present is the Christmas cracker in which Narcissa is pleased to find some manner of jewelry, Draco a new piece of dangerous magic to add to his arsenal and I enjoy my specifically brewed cologne.

At the goading of a few I happened upon a chat board the other day. I was shocked to find that many of the young ladies and men were under the impression that I engaged in rather unnatural acts with my son.
I have spent a few days trying to understand why anyone would believe this, or even want to believe it. Perhaps it's this concept of purity of blood? Let me assure you that while many pureblood family lines become rather tangled, no one that I know of has resorted to seducing their own children. Not that it would matter in this case, a relationship of this sort would ultimately be unproductive.
Does anyone see Draco as being abused? I am strict but not abusive. And while I do give the boy everything he wishes, there are limits to that. Not that I believe he would ask for such a thing. Although we have never spoken of it, I am fairly certain that my boy has no interest in other males. I say this in spite of the further implications that my son was engaged in activities with The Boy Who Should Have Died. In fact, if even half of these rumours were true I'm not sure my son would have any time at all to study. His grades do not reflect such... distractions.
In any case, I'm sorry if that ruins your illusions or stumps you of things to talk about in your little "chat rooms" but it is the simple truth.

For something that claims to be magical, it is rather mundane and banal. Loud? Unnatural? I suppose I do have rather preternatural good looks that speak volumes before me. The rest I suppose I can live with. What an odd tool. I saw it being passed around and thought I might test it out.
Of late owls have been flying about like mad due to the excitement of the new Muggle movie about those children and me. I still don't think the man playing me is quite as attractive as I am, but then who is? It makes a fairly good show of capturing my elegance and intelligence but I can assure you that that boy did not make me the act fool as it was represented in the last spectacle. I do not? lose control like that.
In any event, should any of you happen to see this film, do let me know if I was represented well in it, of at all. I was told that my portrayer was not in the previews so perhaps this round I shall be spared the love notes from the swooning throngs of Muggles.

I suppose I should post these questions as I get them as individual posts, but often I cannot be bothered with it. Today, however, I find myself with a spare moment.

Since this is an "ask" journal, do you celebrate Easter, and if you do did you have a good Sunday with your family? I hope I'm not prying.
Easter is a Christian holiday, and not being Christian, not as such. As a wizard, I do not have to wait for a special day to decorate eggs. I can enchant them whenever and however I wish. It likely takes the fun out of that tradition.
Sunday was lovely, however. I had quite the chuckle at the parade of poorly-dressed Muggles parading to their local place of worship.

I have had little to post about of late, I'd apologise but the truth is that I owe none of you anything and this journal is for myself. In any case, I have a moment to spare and an amusing story to share.
I just spent the evening trying to talk to Severus Snape about his current gloom over this random animation of him someone pointed out to him online.

He was ever so embarassed by it, as he always is by any attention he gets at all. I did try pointing out that it was positive in nature, but of course the git insists it's merely mockery. Which likely it is, but I really had better things to do than to hold his hand through his latest crisis.
I ask you, is it really that hard to maintain your hair? I find it second nature, of course. But perhaps one of you less attractive people would have some perspective to give on your troubles with cleanliness.

It seems since this new year has started I have been busier than ever. It seems that there is some bout of illness that others seem to catch that I am impervious to. I think this comes from all of the muggle loving. They spread their diseases over the pure, or at least try to. However, instead of being praised for my holding off these common germs, I am left with extra work to do and deprived of time with my family. I would owl in myself, however, it would not do to be caught with something so common as a cold. And even if I were to catch something from this den of infection I would simply make an elixir of some sort to make it bareable. It puts me of the mind to prod a few of these layabouts with a certain unforgivable to show them the real meaning of pain.

It seems that I have come out on the other side of this season none the worse for wear. I did get some lovely gifts from my family, as they are people of impeccable taste. I do enjoy the colognes that Narcissa picks out and I believe that Madame Malkin tends to set aside ascots and accessories that will coordinate with my robes for Draco to stop in and buy.
Of course I did see to Draco having the latest broom, whatever that is. My secretary finds these things out and takes his list and makes sure everything is bought and wrapped. For Narcissa, of course, it is always the platinum and emerald jewelry sets. This time I bought her hair clips to match her ring, necklace and bracelet. And of course a half dozen new dresses. She's a beautiful woman and must look perfect on my arm, of course.
In any case, I shall to bed now. Did any of you receive anything that gave you an extra bit of joy this year?

Today I have managed to get one of those blindingly painful headaches that come from having to deal with ignorance. Once again one of my esteemed colleagues has gotten in over his head and the resulting mess somehow ends up in my competent and fashionably manicured hands.
Of course, this only happens because everyone knows that I am amongst the only people who can make sense of these proposals and other ratifications. However, reading through what I can only imagine to be the leavings of Fudge's leaf-addled brain leaves me angry and with a migraine.
And still I am not raised any higher than my place here now. I must say that though this is a stately position within the Ministry, that perhaps were I a tad less committed and able I would be in charge. Is that the way it is at your place of employment as well?

It seems that I shall have to shorten my family time this Christmas for Ministry business. Not that we are Christians, mind you, but it is a time to spend with your family. And more importantly a time away from such ignorant wastrels such as Fudge. But it seems that I shall have to curtail my time in order to ensure that current raids do not sink too deeply into real Death Eater territory. It is for the long-term good, but the overages will take their toll on both sides.
But in that spirit, what shall you lot be doing over the holidays? Anyone have any particularly evil plans? Or shall you merely revel in the gluttony of presents and good food?
